Summer 2025

This summer, we’ve made big strides with Urbanna Main street!

New Look, New Website, and Exciting Wins!

Urbanna Main Street has been busy this summer—and we’re thrilled to share some big updates with you.

A Fresh Brand That Tells Our Story

We’ve officially launched our new branding, complete with a fresh logo, fonts, and colors that represent where we’re headed as a community. You’ll notice our scallop shell front and center—not only because it’s beautiful, but because it tells a deeper story. The shell symbolizes that Urbanna is more than just the Oyster Festival (though we’ll always love and honor it!). It reflects our broader history, including the ancient Chesapecten middlesexensis fossil found right here, and our future as a vibrant, diverse, and welcoming port town.

Our branding also sets us apart from other organizations, including the Town of Urbanna government. While we work closely with the Town, we are a separate nonprofit with our own mission, goals, and projects.

Our New Website Is Live!

We’ve launched our brand-new website, making it easier than ever to learn about our mission, see what’s happening in town, and find ways to get involved.

Grant Award for Wayfinding Signs

We’re proud to share that Urbanna Main Street has been awarded a $15,000 Community Vitality Grant from Virginia Main Street, under the Department of Housing and Community Development. This funding will go toward new wayfinding signs around town—helping visitors and residents easily find key destinations like the Urbanna Town Marina and other attractions. We’re currently researching resources, gathering inspiration, and connecting with consultants to make this project a reality.

Recognition & New Leadership

We were honored to earn 2nd place in the “Best Main Street” category in the 2025 Best of the Rivah contest! Congratulations to Kilmarnock Main Street for first place and Mathews Main Street for third.

We’ve also welcomed Roy Kime to our board. Roy is the former zoning administrator in Urbanna and brings a wealth of small-town government knowledge to our team.

What’s Next

Right now, we’re working with the Town, residents, and partners to:

  • Secure sponsorships and organize the 2025 Holiday Home Tour
  • Apply for additional grant opportunities
  • Move forward with wayfinding sign planning
  • Continue building community events and partnerships

If you’d like to sponsor or volunteer for one of our events, please email us—we’d love to have you join us in shaping Urbanna’s future.

Together, we’re making Urbanna a place where history meets opportunity.
